USB Car Stereo
For many of us, when we think of USB we think of computers. USB’s however are now being linked to car stereo systems and the USB car stereo is said to take the car audio market by storm.
The majority of car stereo makers are now beginning to think small and are adding slots in their car stereo models to enable you to insert a USB drive into them. USB car stereo models will revolutionize the way we store our car music and because they are small and cost very little they will provide many car owners with an alternative method for storing CDs.
USB drives or universal serial buses are the size of a keychain and can be purchased for a little as $20. With the addition of thumb drives to car stereo systems you will now be able to store all your favourite tunes onto your USB and then pop them into your car stereo without the need for a multitude of CDs.
According to reports there is a big demand for car stereos that include a thumb drive port and many leading car stereo manufactures are now producing their own models. These include Kenwood who have also incorporated thumb drive ports into their car stereo faceplates. These stereos will also be able to play music from iPods once a special adaptor is purchase. The estimated price for these stereos will range from $200 to $500. JVC, Clarion, Blaupunkt, and Alpine are all said to be introducing their own range of USB systems later this year.
Thumb drives are the way of the future and they can store a wide range of file types. With this in mind we could eventually see the introduction of photos or indeed videos to car stereo systems. But for now the portability that they provide for music lovers is enough.
